The National Conservatory Workshop for Lace was set up in 1976 as part of the Mobilier National administration and under the authority of the French Culture Ministry. Its task is to preserve the techniques of bobbin lace.
The Conservatory Workshop is opening up to the modern world by making traditional skills available to contemporary artists (for drawings, paintings, design concepts, 3D models, etc.)
The works made by artistic technicians are deposited in state residences or shown to the public during national or international exhibitions.
