Rochegude (meaning "pointed rock") is 3 km west of the town of Saint-Privat d'Allier, between the end of the Devès mountain chain and the Margeride mountains. The village conjures up a very special atmosphere with its tower and chapel.
Rochegude stands at an altitude of 967 m and looks down on the Allier valley and the Gévaudan road. It also marks the limit between the dioceses of Le Puy and Clermont.
