morning : visit of Le Puy-en-Velay

Your group will be welcomed by a guide from the Pays d'art et d'histoire,
departure for the pedestrian tour of the city of Le Puy-en-Velay. Visit of Notre Dame du Puy Cathedral, a masterpiece of Romanesque art, classed UNESCO world heritage due to its position at the start of the Santiago de Compostela way.
A walk in the heart of a very old city.

12h30 : Lunch in a restaurant of the city,

afternoon : history of a river, the wild Loire and discovery of the highlands of Mézenc

Departure with a guide, for an excursion of about 110 km during which you will cross the Monastier-sur-Gazeille, medieval city with a rich heritage : 11th century abbey church, castle and church Saint-Jean.
You will then admire the impressive viaduct of the Recoumène (70 m high) before joining Les Estables, 1346 m hihg, the highest mountain of the Massif Central with its summit Mount Mézenc (1753 m) culminating point of the Haute-Loire.
A few kilometers from Le Mézenc, there is the Gerbier de Jonc (1551 m) which stands between the waters of the river Loire and the river Rhone.
After a tribute to the longest French river, the return will go through the
highlands of Mézenc. Discovery of the traditional habitat of the village of Moudeyres, visit of the Farm of the Perrel brothers, ecomuseum, history of peasant life in the past.
