This day of discovery begins with a guided tour of La Chaise-Dieu.

10h : Welcome by a guide to visit the imposing abbey church of St Robert with its choir decorated with 144 stalls surrounding the tomb of Pope Clement VI, its 15th century mural fresco "the Dance of Death" and its magnificent baroque organ case. You will then discover the fascinating history of its former Benedictine abbey through the new museographic tour presenting the gothic cloister, the Chapel of Notre Dame du Collège which houses the 14 Flemish tapestries from the 16th century, a true national treasure that has been entirely restored, and the famous 17th century echo chamber with its amazing acoustics. ..

12 noon: Local meal in a restaurant (1/4 wine and coffee included)

In the afternoon, you will board the Picasso train and follow the small tourist line which overlooks the Viallard viaduct over the Senouire before descending through the gorges to reach the Dore valley and the town of Ambert...

1.45pm: Meeting at La Chaise-Dieu station and departure on board the train.

4.00 pm: Visit of the Maison de la Fourme d'Ambert to discover an AOC cheese, part of the local heritage, culture and economy... Explanations on its traditional and contemporary production with a visit to the maturing cellar
Or you can choose to visit the Richard de Bas Mill in Ambert: an historical paper museum where some of the buildings date back to the 15th century and where you can discover the production of handmade paper made from rags and with plant and flower inclusions...

Around 5.30 pm : End of the day
