A dynamic trail winding its way between the Allier and Ance valleys.
Description
The first part of the trail wends its way gently along the River Allier to La Baraque de Chaumas. After the mountain pass comes a descent that can present a few challenges after Champagnac. After crossing the River Ance at the Pouzas dam, a winding climb awaits you as far as the trail’s highest point (1078 m) and the meeting with the GR65 trail (the Way of St James). Here you may meet up with a few pilgrims coming in the opposite direction. The trail then takes you down towards the Allier Gorges along a fun, but tricky route plunging you into the valley. You arrive downstream from Monistrol and go as far as the metal bridge built by Gustave Eiffel, then cross the town to the car park and the trail's starting point.
