The Clémentine Tower stands at the apse of the church and rises high above it. It was built in the late 14th century to house the many treasures from the Benedictine abbey. No interior visits currently.
Description
The monks took refuge in this fortified keep when the abbey was occupied and sacked by the Huguenots in 1562. They were able to hold out for several days because of the water well and the oven that are located in what is today the sacristy.
The interior of the tower is not open for visits, but you can admire its outline from the town.
